Laser effectively erases tattoos.

While some tattoos are keepers, others cause regret for a variety of reasons. Our advanced laser tattoo removal technology is a highly effective method to remove your unwanted tattoo safely and affordably. Tattoos consist of thousands of particles of tattoo pigment embedded into the skin layers. Our non-invasive procedure breaks down the ink particles into smaller pieces, which are then removed by normal body processes over a series of treatments.

Tattoo removal treatments with comfort in mind.

Our tattoo removal technology helps make treatments quick and easy. While some discomfort is typical with tattoo removal in certain areas of the body, we use topical numbing cream and/or an injectable numbing solution to make treatments as painless as possible. We also use a cold-air chiller to keep the skin cool and comfortable. In many cases, we can use Describe patches to minimize skin disruption while improving results.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Tattoo removal uses a specialized laser to break down the ink particles in the tattoo. When the laser energy is directed into the skin, it sends rapid bursts of light through the layers of the skin and into the tattoo ink. The ink absorbs the laser energy, causing the ink particles to fragment into smaller pieces. The body’s immune system then removes the broken-down ink particles. With each session, more ink particles are broken down into smaller pieces, gradually fading the tattoo over time.

Experience added convenience and boosted results with the Describe patch.

The Describe patch helps generate quicker results while protecting the skin during the treatment process. It is a thin, flexible patch that is applied to the skin over the tattoo. The patch contains a harmless photosensitizer called perfluorodecalin (PDF) that is activated by the laser, causing it to release energy that breaks down the tattoo ink. In many cases, the Describe patch allows the tattoo to be treated multiple times in the same appointment, for even quicker results with less visits. Additionally, the patch helps protect the surrounding skin from the laser by delivering oxygen to the skin, reducing the risk of side effects and allowing for more precise targeting of the tattoo ink.

Can colored tattoos be removed?

While black ink is easier to remove, most colors can also be removed or faded. Laser energy is attracted to dark pigment, which means that black and dark colors will be broken down most efficiently with each treatment. Lighter colors, like light blue, aqua, orange, yellow, and pink absorb much less energy, so they require more sessions to achieve the desired result. In many cases, light colors will fade but cannot be completely removed, while darker colors can be mostly removed after enough treatments. Also, there is currently no laser on the market that is capable of removing all of the colors. Pico lasers are unable to remove orange and red, while q-switch lasers are unable to remove blue and aqua. Because of this, the best type of laser for removing your specific tattoo may depend on whether it contains one of the above colors.

Pico Laser vs. Hollywood Spectra

Tattoo removal lasers rely on breaking down ink particles by delivering a photoacoustic shockwave, which disrupts and shatters the ink particles. While there are many important technological factors that impact the effectiveness of a laser, the ability to produce a more substantial shockwave is one of the most important when it comes to tattoo removal. In general, Pico lasers are known to be more effective at tattoo removal because of their ability to produce a larger shockwave than traditional Q-switched lasers, as they deliver the energy over a much shorter time window (a quicker burst of energy). Studies indicate that the Hollywood Spectra laser generates a larger photoacoustic shockwave than Pico lasers at even their highest settings, making the Hollywood Spectra our choice for providing the best tattoo removal.

Simple protocol, minimal downtime.

Our tattoo removal protocol consists of a series of treatments spaced about 8 weeks apart. The number of treatments needed will depend on your individual tattoo. Ink type, colors, use of the Describe patch, and the age of the tattoo all impact the rate of results. During your consultation, we will discuss the expectations for your specific case.
